Catering FAQs

When you come in to pick-up a catering order it will take time to collect your items, check-out, and load the items into your car. You may want to give us an earlier pick-up time to ensure that you get out of the store at the time you need. During busy times (Holidays, Graduations, Communions, etc.) it may take longer to get your order based on how many people are in front of you in line and how big your order is.

How far in advance should I place my order?

We like to have one week’s notice for catering and cakes. Bread, Rolls and Tomato Pie can be ordered up to 48 hours in advance- for earlier pick-up please call in your order directly to our store at 215-672-5439. Whenever possible we try to accommodate emergency situations, just call ahead. Be aware that during peak seasons (Holidays, Graduations, Communions, etc.) we may be booked and unable to take more orders, so we suggest ordering as soon as you can to ensure your get just what you want. All changes made during peak seasonal hours require 48 hours notice.

Should I pick-up my catering order hot or cold?

If you order your food on-line, it will be cold at time of pick-up. If you choose pick up your food hot, the food should be served immediately. If not specified, food will be cold at time of pick-up.

What is the best way to heat up your Home Roasted Pork or Beef for sandwiches?

We’ve found the best way is to bring your gravy to almost a boil on your stovetop, and then set the gravy in a crock pot (temperature on low to medium- not too hot or the meat will shrink and dry out). Add meat to the gravy as needed. Once you drop the meat in the gravy, assuming the gravy is hot, it will heat up instantly.

How should I store the pastry that I purchased?

Italian Rum Cakes, Strawberry Shortcakes (Chocolate & Vanilla), Peach & Strawberry Shortcakes, Mini-Pastry Trays and all Pastry with crème or cheese filling must be kept refrigerated until ready to serve. Our mixed Italian Cookie trays may be left in a cool, dry place.

How do I keep my rolls and bread fresh until ready to use?

We bake all our bread and rolls fresh daily and do not use any preservatives-so it’s best to pick-up your rolls or bread the day they will be eaten. If you must pick-up earlier then keep the rolls and bread tightly bagged- paper first then plastic. Any unused bread may be frozen, then thawed and warmed for later use. Tomato pies also freeze nicely; otherwise keep them in a cool, dry place until ready to eat.
